Esade students raise funds for Lebanon
September 29, 2020 2:39 pmIt’s been almost a month since the explosion struck Beirut city. Third after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, never has the city seen something of this magnitude. Students from both the 2021 & 2022 batches have come together to raise funds for Impact Lebanon, an organization endorsed and verified by Lebanese students, we can all collaborate with.
The strength of the explosion shook the ground as far as Cyprus, some 250km away from Beirut. Hundreds lost their lives, thousands were injured, and families were torn apart without a roof over their heads. The disaster hit a country already struggling with an economy in free fall, rising food prices and the coronavirus pandemic. Being far from home, the alumni had been left in shock and distraught.
Hundreds are still reported missing. Beirut’s main hospitals have been destroyed by the blast, leaving them unable to care for victims. The port of Beirut has been completely wiped out, and half the city has suffered severe damage. Countless buildings are still at risk of collapsing. Beyond the unbearable suffering of families who have lost loved ones, the explosion has left over 300,000 Lebanese homeless.

Team spirit
“Seeing Lebanon burn slowly from a far was one of the hardest event Lebanese students had to endure during this merciless year. Yet, we were not alone in this, all of the ESADE family (students, staff and faculty) were present and accounted for. We are so blessed to be part of this exceptional group of individuals who are there in time of need, always doing good and doing better”, explains Nooman Kahwaji (FT MBA 20).
The covid-19 crisis which has also heavily affected Lebanon like the rest of the world, now seems like a drop in the ocean. Lebanon is dying and the people of Lebanon need your support .
Students from both the 2021 & 2022 batches have come together to raise funds for Impact Lebanon, an organization endorsed and verified by Lebanese students. The objective is to raise €3,000 and all amounts donated (big and small) are highly appreciated. Funds will go towards providing: Shelter, Food, Medication, Rehabilitation, and Environmental recovery.
